‘The Bangladeshi-American Media Foundation, Inc.’ Launched in New York

 A New Platform for Unity, Dignity, and Professional Excellence of Bangladeshi-American Journalists in the Diaspora    New York, July 2025 : In a historic initiative by Bangladeshi-origin journalists, writers, and media professionals across the United States, a newly registered nonprofit organization titled The Bangladeshi-American Media Foundation, Inc. was officially launched in New York.  The primary mission of this foundation is to bring together Bangladeshi-American journalists from across the country under one umbrella, strengthen professional communication and collaboration, and work for the betterment of the media landscape both in the diaspora and mainstream.  "This organization is not just for journalists — it opens a new door for the entire Bangladeshi-American community," said one of the founding members. "We aim to build a space where our journalists, writers, and content creators can support one another, amplify our voices, and engage with both the mainstream and the diaspora audience."  Advisors and Board of Directors The Foundation’s Board of Advisors and Directors includes:  Sarkar Kabiruddin,  Roquia Haider , Manzur Ahmed,  Kazi Shamsul Haque,  Kazi Montu , Neher Siddiquee,  Abid Rahman,  Muhammad Anisul Kabir Jasir  and  Akbar Haider Kiron .  Core Objectives and Activities 1. Professional Unity and Networking Creating opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and networking among Bangladeshi-American journalists and writers.  2. Protection and Advocacy Providing legal support, standing for press freedom, and ensuring institutional representation, especially for those working in community media.  3. Seminars and Dialogues Hosting forums, receptions, and discussion events to build bridges between journalists, the public, and visiting guests from Bangladesh.  4. Community Information and Services Disseminating timely, accurate information for the Bangladeshi diaspora and keeping community journalism visible and active.  5. Press Accreditation and Recognition Assisting with press credentials, compliance with official policies, and liaison with relevant U.S. government departments.  6. Awards, Conferences, and Training Recognizing excellence through awards, national conferences, and skill-building workshops.  7. Support and Humanitarian Assistance Helping newly arrived or struggling journalists with immigration advice, housing connections, and legal support.  8. Civic and Political Engagement Encouraging civic awareness and participation by connecting Bangladeshi-American journalists with local leaders, elected officials, and visiting dignitaries.  9. Inspiring the Next Generation Engaging U.S.-born youth through mentorship, internships, and creative media projects to foster interest in journalism and mainstream media.  10. Cultural Contribution and Heritage Preservation Showcasing Bangladeshi culture and language through charity events, fundraisers, and cultural programs.  11. Intercultural Dialogue Fostering understanding and harmony through exchange with other ethnic and religious communities.

  A New Horizon for Diaspora Journalism The launch of this foundation comes at a time of significant transformation in ethnic media across the United States. The organization is poised to play a vital role in unifying and dignifying the Bangladeshi-American voice and building a path for future generations.  The Foundation plans to host its first large-scale networking reception and seminar this fall in New York City, where journalists, media professionals, community leaders, and policymakers are expected to participate.
