The China-Bangladesh Friendship Center (CBFC) has elected a new leadership team for the 2025–2027 term, following its Sixth Annual General Meeting held online via Zoom on Friday night.
In the election conducted under CBFC procedures, members chose Dr. Fakhrul Islam Babu as President, while Ms. Chen Qiuhua, widely known as Roseanne, was elected General Secretary. Two long-time contributors Mr. Mohammad Kamrul Hasaan and Mr. Zhong Yanmeng, also known as Jason Zhong were honoured with the title of Honorary President in recognition of their enduring service.
The new committee features Ms. Nipa Das and Mr. Ashiqur Rahman Sarker as Joint Secretaries, with vice-presidential responsibilities entrusted to Mr. Fung Chi Nok (Lenny), Engr. Jahan Md Shah, Dr. MNH Munim, and Mr. Mohammed Iqbal Bahar. Md. Shariful Islam takes on the role of Organizing Secretary, while Mr. Shaik Niaz Hossain will oversee finances as Finance Secretary.
Trade, commerce and industry matters will be managed by Mr. Shamsul Arefeen Shohel, with Mr. Golam Rabbani Raza handling international affairs. Women’s affairs will be led by Ms. Syeda Saika Rosy, and M.G. Shams Khan will direct education and training initiatives. Social welfare activities fall under the charge of Mr. Saddam Hossain Rony, while cultural programs will be coordinated by Mr. Sheikh Ali Ashraf Faruk.
Press and publicity efforts will be spearheaded by Ms. Tahrima Islam, ICT development by Mr. Sudipto Roy Akash, and youth engagement by Mr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam. Supporting the President directly will be Ms. Sajeda Sabir, serving as Program Coordinator and Special Assistant.
With this newly elected team, CBFC aims to expand cultural exchange, strengthen educational ties, engage youth, and deepen cooperation between Bangladesh and China over the next two years.
