An Iftar and prayer gathering organized by the North South University Alumni Association of USA turned into a vibrant reunion of expatriate Bangladeshis in New York. The event was held on Saturday at the elegant Chef Mahal Restaurant in Jackson Heights, bringing together former students of the university in a warm and friendly atmosphere.    The Consul General of Bangladesh in New York, Mohammad Mozammel Haque, attended the program as the chief guest. In his remarks, he praised the initiative of Bangladeshi professionals and graduates living abroad, noting that such gatherings help strengthen community bonds and maintain a meaningful connection with the homeland.    Before the Iftar, a special prayer was offered seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for Bangladesh and the Muslim Ummah around the world. Alumni of North South University present at the event expressed their joy at having the opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and share memories despite the busy pace of life in the diaspora. Distinguished journalist and writer Akbar Haider Kiron was present at the event as a special invited guest. However, due to a sudden health issue, he had to leave the program shortly after arriving.   The special Iftar and reunion held at the elegant Chef Mahal Restaurant was widely regarded as a unique and memorable initiative. Many participants noted that such an extraordinary gathering of talented alumni from one of Bangladesh’s leading universities would remain a cherished memory for a long time.    The organizers mentioned that many alumni had traveled from different states across the United States to attend the event. They also expressed plans to arrange similar gatherings in other states in the future. At the end of the program, participants expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives to strengthen connections among North South University alumni across the United States.
